Phil Simms Sees Bright Future for Giants as Jaxson Dart Faces High Expectations in 2026
The New York Giants are entering the 2026 NFL season with renewed optimism, and much of that excitement centres around quarterback Jaxson Dart. After showing encouraging signs during his rookie campaign, Dart is expected to play a much bigger role in his second NFL season as the team looks to move forward under new head coach John Harbaugh.

Simms explained that players recognise Dart’s talent and respond positively to the confidence and presence he brings to the team.
The Giants are also hoping to benefit from improved health among their offensive playmakers. Wide receiver Malik Nabers and running back Cam Skattebo are expected to play key roles in the offence during the 2026 season after injuries limited the team’s potential last year. Keeping those important players available throughout the season could be one of the biggest factors in determining how successful the offence becomes.
Simms is especially optimistic about what the Giants can accomplish offensively this season. Rather than expecting only moderate improvement, he believes the unit has the potential to perform at a much higher level. With offensive coordinator Matt Nagy leading the offence and Dart continuing his development, Simms expects the Giants to be one of the more improved offensive teams if everything comes together.
However, Simms also acknowledged that staying healthy will be critical. He believes injuries to key offensive players would be the biggest obstacle standing between the Giants and a successful season. If the team’s core contributors remain on the field, he expects New York to compete for a postseason spot.
