A tragic traffic incident in New Brunswick has claimed the life of a 40-year-old bicyclist from North Brunswick after a collision involving a garbage truck earlier this month.
According to police, the incident occurred on Thursday at around 10:18 a.m. in the 400 block of Jersey Avenue. The cyclist, identified as Michael Moorman, was reportedly exiting a business when he entered the roadway. At that moment, he was struck by a privately owned garbage truck traveling through the area.

Police Capt. Amish Shah of the New Brunswick Police Department shared that the case remains under review as investigators continue to examine the circumstances leading to the crash.
Incidents involving bicycles and heavy vehicles often raise concerns about road safety, especially in commercial and high-traffic zones. While officials have not yet released further details about road conditions or visibility at the time of the crash, such investigations typically focus on traffic movement, driver awareness, and right-of-way factors.
The identity of the victim was officially released by authorities following confirmation procedures. Community members in the area have expressed concern over roadway safety, as Jersey Avenue is known for frequent vehicle and pedestrian movement throughout the day.
Police have urged anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has additional information to assist with the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have not indicated when the investigation will be completed or whether further updates, including potential charges, may follow.
