New Jersey Suspect in Domestic Stabbing Located and Arrested in Ohio After Months on the Run
A 36-year-old woman from New Jersey who was wanted in connection with a violent domestic incident has been taken into custody in Ohio, bringing an interstate search to an end, according to law enforcement officials.
Authorities confirmed that the woman, identified as Dawn Burge, was arrested on Wednesday by U.S. Marshals at a business location on Griswold Road in Elyria, Ohio. Investigators had been actively searching for her after she allegedly fled New Jersey following a stabbing incident that took place last year.
The case dates back to June 29, 2025, when police responded to a domestic dispute on Morgan Drive in Edison, New Jersey. During the incident, a man was reportedly stabbed in the lower abdomen with a hunting knife. The situation quickly escalated, leading to serious criminal charges being filed against Burge.
Following the incident, authorities issued a warrant for her arrest. She now faces two counts of aggravated assault along with two weapons-related offenses, as outlined in court documents. Officials say she left the state shortly after the incident, prompting a coordinated effort to locate her.
Law enforcement agencies were able to track her movements across state lines, eventually identifying her location in Ohio. The U.S. Marshals Service carried out the arrest without reported incident, highlighting the role of federal coordination in handling cases where suspects attempt to evade local authorities.
Burge is currently being held at the Lorain County Jail in Ohio. She is expected to be extradited back to New Jersey, where she will face the charges filed against her in Middlesex County.
As of now, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office has not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the stabbing. The condition of the victim has also not been publicly updated.
This case reflects how domestic disputes can quickly turn dangerous and lead to serious legal consequences. It also shows how law enforcement agencies continue to work across jurisdictions to ensure that individuals facing criminal charges are brought back to answer in court.
Authorities have not shared further updates, and the investigation remains limited to the information officially released so far.
