LoSauro Brothers Turn Hockey Setbacks Into Lacrosse Glory as Will Gets OHL Draft Call During Championship Win
The story of Ridgewood’s standout athletes AJ and Will LoSauro has taken a powerful turn, as the brothers finally secured a major championship victory after years of near misses in hockey, while also receiving a significant hockey career milestone during the same moment.
The two siblings had experienced repeated disappointment on the ice with Ridgewood, coming close to winning a state hockey title in 2025 but falling just short. That heartbreak repeated again this year at the Prudential Center in March, where another strong run ended without a championship. Despite those setbacks, both AJ and Will continued to build their reputation as top multi-sport athletes, earning All-State recognition for their performances.
Their breakthrough finally came on the lacrosse field, where Ridgewood delivered a strong performance in the Group 4 final against Southern. The team secured a 13–8 victory, highlighted by AJ LoSauro’s dominant display. AJ led the way with five goals and one assist, playing a central role in lifting his team to the state title. His brother Will also contributed with a goal and an assist, helping seal the win in what became a defining moment for both players and their team.
For AJ, who is set to continue his lacrosse career at Penn State, the victory carried deep emotional value after earlier disappointments in hockey and lacrosse tournaments. The win represented not just a championship, but also a sense of closure after years of falling just short at the highest stage.
While Ridgewood pulled away in the second half to secure the lacrosse title, an unexpected development unfolded in the hockey world. The Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection draft was taking place at the same time, marking a major moment for young prospects across North America.
During this draft, Will LoSauro received a major career update while still actively competing in the lacrosse final. The Oshawa Generals selected him in the 10th round as the 195th overall pick. The news reached him shortly after the game concluded, adding another emotional layer to an already unforgettable day.
Will acknowledged the moment as a significant honor, while also expressing his commitment to continuing his development with the United States National Team Development Program. His hockey record over the past two seasons has been impressive, with 66 goals and 69 assists, further strengthening his profile as a rising player in the sport.
In April, Will also earned selection to the USA Hockey National Team Development Program, a highly respected pathway that has helped produce many top-level professional players in the United States. The program is widely viewed as a stepping stone toward elite international and professional hockey careers.
For both LoSauro brothers, the day marked a rare combination of success and opportunity. A long-awaited championship win in lacrosse finally arrived, while a promising hockey future was also confirmed for Will in real time. Their journey reflects resilience, versatility, and steady growth across two demanding sports, making their latest achievements a defining chapter in their young athletic careers.
