Family-Owned New Jersey Hobby Store Ends 43-Year Journey, Leaving Generations of Customers With Lasting Memories
AAA Hobbies and Crafts, a longtime destination for hobby enthusiasts in Magnolia, New Jersey, has officially closed its doors after serving the local community for more than four decades. The family-owned business announced its closure with an emotional message, bringing an end to a chapter that has been part of South Jersey’s hobby scene since 1984.
The announcement was shared on June 30 through the store’s official Facebook page. Alongside a group photo of the staff standing outside the building while holding a “closed” sign, the business thanked everyone who had supported the store over the years. The message simply read, “Thanks to our staff and all of our customers for everything!”
Located at 706 N. White Horse Pike in Magnolia, AAA Hobbies and Crafts built a loyal customer base by offering a wide range of products for hobbyists of all ages. Its inventory included LEGO sets, model railroad supplies, model cars, puzzles, and various arts and crafts materials. Over the years, the store became a familiar stop for collectors, builders, and families looking to enjoy creative hobbies together.
The business had been operated by the same family for three generations. Throughout its 43-year history, it earned a reputation as a trusted neighborhood hobby shop where customers could find specialty products while receiving knowledgeable service from people who shared their passion.
Although the final closure was confirmed at the end of June, the owners had informed customers months earlier that they intended to close the business. In a Facebook post published on November 11, 2025, owners Alan Bass and Michael Bass described the decision as a personal one.
At the time, they acknowledged that closing the store would leave a noticeable gap in the local hobby community. They also expressed hope that another business would eventually serve local hobby enthusiasts with the same commitment to integrity and honest customer service that AAA Hobbies and Crafts had aimed to provide throughout its history.
The news prompted an outpouring of appreciation from longtime customers who reflected on decades of visits to the store. Many shared memories of purchasing model kits, exploring new hobbies, and returning year after year with friends and family.
One customer described the business as a place filled with years of memories and countless model-building experiences, saying the store would be greatly missed. Another longtime visitor recalled shopping there regularly from the mid-1980s until the store’s final days, describing those visits as unforgettable memories.
For many residents across South Jersey, AAA Hobbies and Crafts was more than just a retail store. It became a community gathering place where people with shared interests could discover new projects, receive expert advice, and build lasting connections through their hobbies.
With its closure, the Magnolia community says goodbye to a business that served multiple generations and remained a familiar part of the local hobby landscape for more than four decades.
