Two Westampton Residents Injured After Rollover Crash on I-295 in Mount Laurel

A serious overnight crash on Interstate 295 in New Jersey left two people badly injured after their vehicle lost control and overturned in Mount Laurel, officials confirmed.
According to authorities, the incident happened early Monday at around 12:32 a.m. on the northbound side of I-295 near milepost 35.8. A 27-year-old driver was traveling with a 27-year-old female passenger, both residents of Westampton, when the crash occurred.
Investigators said the vehicle suddenly went out of control for reasons still under review. It first struck the left-side guardrail before overturning multiple times on the roadway, coming to a stop roughly a mile south of Exit 36.
The impact of the crash was severe enough that both occupants were thrown from the vehicle. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and provided immediate medical assistance before transporting both victims to a nearby hospital. Officials confirmed that both individuals sustained serious injuries.
At this stage, law enforcement has not released further details about what caused the driver to lose control. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are working to determine whether speed, road conditions, or other factors played a role in the accident.
Traffic in the area was temporarily affected while emergency crews cleared the wreckage and ensured the roadway was safe for other drivers.
Officials continue to remind motorists to stay alert, especially during late-night driving hours when visibility is low and fatigue can increase risk on high-speed highways like I-295.
This crash adds to ongoing safety concerns about roadway accidents in the region, particularly involving high-speed interstates where even a momentary loss of control can lead to serious consequences.
