Rising Music Artist Accused in Brutal Killing of Teen as Court Details Shock Investigators
A disturbing criminal case involving a young music artist has surfaced in Los Angeles, where prosecutors allege a series of violent and deeply troubling actions connected to the death of a 14-year-old girl. The case has drawn widespread attention due to the severity of the allegations and the background of the accused.
According to law enforcement authorities, the investigation began on September 8, 2025, when officers from the Los Angeles Police Department discovered severely decomposed human remains inside an impounded vehicle. The car was registered to 21-year-old David Anthony Burke, a singer known professionally as D4vd. Police were initially alerted after receiving reports of a strong and unusual odor coming from the vehicle. After further examination, the remains were identified eight days later as those of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a 14-year-old girl.
Several months later, on April 16, 2026, Burke was arrested and formally charged in connection with the case. Prosecutors have filed multiple serious charges against him, including first-degree murder, continuous sexual acts with a minor, lewd acts involving a child under 14, and mutilation of human remains. Burke has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Court filings reveal a complex and deeply concerning timeline leading up to the alleged crime. Prosecutors claim that Burke first met Celeste when she was just 11 years old and that the nature of their relationship became abusive when she was 13. At the time, Burke was reportedly 18. Authorities further allege that the teenager had sent messages threatening to expose their relationship, which prosecutors believe may have played a role in the events that followed.
Investigators claim that on April 23, 2025, Burke arranged transportation for Celeste to travel to his residence in the Hollywood Hills. The following day, prosecutors allege he purchased several items online, including chainsaws, heavy-duty bags, a body bag, and other materials that they believe were used in an attempt to conceal the crime. Officials state that an argument between the two had occurred shortly before her death, based on text message exchanges.
The prosecution further alleges that Burke fatally stabbed Celeste and then dismembered her body in his garage. Details presented in court filings describe the alleged actions as deliberate and calculated. These claims have not yet been proven in court and remain part of the ongoing legal proceedings.
The family of Celeste Rivas Hernandez has chosen not to speak publicly about the case. Their legal representative stated that the family is deeply affected by the nature of the allegations and the painful details that continue to emerge during court proceedings.
Burke gained recognition in the music industry after the release of his 2022 singles “Romantic Homicide” and “Here With Me,” both of which became popular on social media platforms. His debut album, “Withered,” was released on April 25, 2025, just two days after the date prosecutors believe the crime occurred.
The case is currently moving through the legal system, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 26. As the proceedings continue, authorities are expected to present further evidence, while the defense will have the opportunity to challenge the claims made against Burke in court.
This case remains under active investigation, and all allegations will ultimately be tested through the judicial process. Authorities have urged the public to allow the legal system to proceed based on evidence and due process.
