Pennsylvania Park Shooting Leaves New Jersey Woman Injured During Early Morning Dispute
A late-night argument between a New Jersey couple turned violent in a Pennsylvania state park, leaving a young woman injured after she was shot inside a parked vehicle, according to police authorities.
The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday at Moraine State Park in Muddy Creek Township, a large recreational area located in western Pennsylvania. Law enforcement officials reported that a 29-year-old woman was shot during a dispute with her boyfriend while both were seated in a car.
Police identified the suspect as 31-year-old Jevonn J. Brown, also from New Jersey. Authorities stated that the shooting happened around 3:19 a.m. after an argument escalated inside the vehicle parked along Bear Run Road within the park premises.
Emergency responders arrived quickly after the incident was reported. The victim received initial medical treatment at the scene before being transferred to a nearby hospital for further care. Officials have not publicly shared the current condition of the woman.
Following the shooting, police arrested Brown and charged him with multiple serious offenses, including attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment. He is currently being held at the Butler County jail as the legal process moves forward. Court representation details for the accused have not yet been confirmed by authorities.
Investigators also confirmed that both individuals involved are residents of Westampton, New Jersey. No additional people were present or involved during the incident, and police have indicated that the situation was contained to the couple inside the vehicle.
Moraine State Park, where the shooting occurred, spans more than 16,000 acres and is located roughly 40 miles north of Pittsburgh. The area is commonly used for camping, boating, and outdoor recreation, making the early morning violence unusual for the location.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the shooting, including what triggered the dispute and how the firearm was discharged. Officials have not released further details as the case remains under active investigation.
The incident has raised renewed concerns about domestic disputes escalating into violence, particularly in isolated or late-night settings where immediate help may be limited.
