New Jersey Woman Arrested After Alleged Assault of Teen Over Pro-Trump Clothing on Boardwalk

A 33-year-old woman has been arrested after authorities said she allegedly assaulted a teenage girl who was wearing clothing displaying the words “Trump” and “ICE” while walking on the boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey.

According to court documents, the incident happened on July 3 as the teenage girl and three friends were walking together along the popular Jersey Shore boardwalk. Investigators said the woman, identified as Kaitlyn E. Tracey of Asbury Park, approached the group while recording them with her cellphone.

Authorities said Tracey shouted at two members of the group who were wearing sweatpants described in court records as having patriotic colors. One of those teens was reportedly wearing sweatpants featuring the words “Trump” and “ICE.”

Court records state that the situation quickly escalated when Tracey allegedly slapped one of the teenagers across the face and body. The alleged victim was not physically injured during the encounter. The teen’s identity and age have not been publicly released, with court documents redacting personal information because the victim is a minor.

Police said the suspect left the scene after the alleged assault. Investigators later reviewed evidence, including video footage that reportedly captured the incident, and were able to identify Tracey. She was arrested on Monday following the investigation.

Prosecutors have charged Tracey with multiple offenses, including endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, harassment, and obstruction, according to court records.

Court filings also state that Tracey is a Canadian citizen who entered the United States using a passport in 2024.

Following her arrest, Tracey was taken to the Ocean County Jail. However, jail records did not list her as an inmate as of Tuesday morning. Court documents show she is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 4.

A man identifying himself as Tracey’s husband, Trevor Williams, posted a video on TikTok claiming that his wife was being transferred into the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). In the video, he appealed for help, saying he did not want anything bad to happen to her.

As of Tuesday, ICE had not publicly commented on the claim. Tracey’s attorney, Francis R. Hodgson, also had not responded to requests for comment.

The investigation remains active, and the charges against Tracey are allegations at this stage. As with all criminal cases, the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
