New Jersey Weekend Forecast: Cooler Air Returns with Saturday Rain Chances and Brighter Sunday Outlook

New Jersey residents are seeing a shift in weather conditions this week as lingering showers move out and a cooler air mass settles in ahead of the weekend. While Thursday begins with damp conditions in some areas, the overall pattern is expected to turn drier, followed by a mix of clouds, breezes, and scattered weekend rain chances.
Early morning showers that affected parts of the state overnight are gradually moving out from west to east. By late morning and into the afternoon, most regions are expected to see improving conditions with increasing breaks in cloud cover. Despite the clearing trend, temperatures will remain mild for this time of year, with daytime highs generally reaching the low to mid-60s across much of New Jersey.
Later in the day on Thursday, a passing cold front will move across the state. This system may trigger isolated to scattered light showers in some areas before pushing offshore by early evening. Along with the frontal passage, winds are expected to pick up, with gusts reaching around 25 mph as cooler and drier air begins to filter into the region.
Friday will bring a mostly dry and breezy day for most of New Jersey. Skies are expected to remain partly cloudy, and conditions will feel slightly cooler and more seasonal. However, by Friday night, there is a chance of a few passing showers returning to parts of the state. Daytime highs are expected to stay in the low to mid-60s.
The weekend will mark a noticeable drop in temperatures. Both Saturday and Sunday will be cooler than earlier in the week, with highs generally ranging from the upper 50s to the low 60s. Saturday carries the better chance for light rain, particularly in southern New Jersey and areas closer to the Jersey Shore. Rainfall is expected to be light and scattered rather than widespread, but clouds and damp conditions may linger through parts of the day.
In contrast, Sunday is expected to bring the more favorable weather of the weekend. Forecast conditions show improving skies with a return of sunshine and a dry atmosphere across much of the state. Temperatures will remain cool but comfortable for late April, staying within the upper 50s to low 60s range.
Looking ahead to the start of next week, a gradual warming trend is expected. Monday should see a slight increase in temperatures, followed by a stronger warm-up on Tuesday when highs may reach into the 70s in some areas. However, weather models also indicate another developing system that could approach the region between Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing the potential for renewed showers. The exact timing and impact of this system remain uncertain at this stage.
Overall, New Jersey is heading into a transitional weather pattern featuring cooler weekend conditions, brief rain chances, and a warmer start to next week.
