Elon Musk Says He Went Too Far Into Politics While Defending His Government Spending Efforts

Elon Musk has acknowledged that his involvement in U.S. politics became more extensive than he originally intended, offering a rare personal reflection months after his highly publicised split with President Donald Trump. During a recent interview, the billionaire entrepreneur said he believes he became too deeply involved in political matters, even though he continues to stand by the work carried out under the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Musk, who leads companies including Tesla and SpaceX, played a major role in the Trump administration’s effort to reduce federal spending. He was appointed to oversee DOGE, a government initiative focused on reviewing public spending, identifying waste, and improving efficiency across federal agencies. His comments now suggest that the experience had a significant personal impact and changed his perspective on balancing business leadership with political involvement.
