Eagles Expect Quinyon Mitchell to Raise the Bar Again After Elite All-Pro Season

The Philadelphia Eagles are preparing for the 2026 NFL season, and one of the biggest reasons for optimism remains All-Pro cornerback Quinyon Mitchell. After delivering two outstanding seasons early in his NFL career, Mitchell enters the new campaign with high expectations. However, instead of focusing on past achievements, the young defensive star is making it clear that his attention is completely on improving even further.

Mitchell has quickly become one of the NFL’s most respected defensive backs. His consistent performances have helped establish the Eagles as one of the league’s toughest defensive teams. Mitchell entered the NFL as a first-round draft pick in 2024 and wasted no time making an impact. During his rookie season, he became the Eagles’ top outside cornerback while helping the team capture a Super Bowl championship. His outstanding play also earned him a runner-up finish in the Defensive Player of the Year voting, an impressive achievement for a first-year player.

Rather than slowing down after that breakout season, Mitchell followed it with another outstanding campaign in 2025. His coverage numbers ranked among the best in the league and showed why opposing quarterbacks became increasingly reluctant to throw in his direction.

On those limited opportunities, he allowed only 451 receiving yards and surrendered just one touchdown throughout the season. These performances helped strengthen the Eagles’ defence and reinforced his reputation as one of football’s premier shutdown cornerbacks.

Despite those impressive accomplishments, there is still one area where Mitchell has room to grow. Through his first 32 regular-season games, he has yet to record an interception. Interestingly, his postseason production tells a different story, as he has collected four interceptions in just five playoff games. Turning that playoff success into regular-season takeaways could make him an even more complete defensive player in 2026.

The Eagles believe Mitchell’s best football may still be ahead of him.
