An 80-year-old crossing guard lost her life and two students were injured after a vehicle struck them on Monday afternoon in Woodland Park, New Jersey. The incident has raised concerns in the local community as authorities continue to investigate how the crash occurred at a marked crossing point.

According to information released by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, the incident took place around 3:35 p.m. at the intersection of McBride and Lackawanna avenues. The crossing guard was performing her duty at the time, guiding students safely across the street when the vehicle hit them. Officials confirmed that the area includes marked crosswalks intended to ensure pedestrian safety.

The elderly crossing guard, a resident of Woodland Park, suffered severe injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, she was pronounced dead. Her identity has not been publicly released as of the latest update.

Officials confirmed that the driver involved in the crash stayed at the scene following the incident. At this stage, no further details have been shared regarding possible charges or contributing factors, as the investigation remains active.

While authorities have not released the ages or school details of the injured students, it is noted that both an elementary school and Memorial Middle School are located within walking distance of the intersection where the accident occurred.
