Burlington County Driver Dies Following Evening Collision on I-295 in Mount Laurel

BURLINGTON COUNTY, N.J. — A Burlington County man lost his life after a crash on Interstate 295 in Mount Laurel Township on Sunday evening, according to authorities.

The fatal incident occurred at approximately 7 p.m. on the northbound side of I-295 near milepost 36.2. New Jersey State Police said troopers responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer.

Investigators reported that a Hyundai passenger vehicle was traveling north when it struck the rear of a Freightliner tractor-trailer that was parked on the right shoulder of the highway. The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 50-year-old Antoine D. Turner of Burlington, suffered severe injuries in the collision.

Despite emergency response efforts, Turner died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash, according to State Police.

Officials said no other injuries were reported. The driver of the parked tractor-trailer was not injured during the incident.

The crash temporarily drew the attention of emergency crews and law enforcement as authorities worked to secure the scene and begin an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.

At this time, investigators have not released additional details regarding what may have led to the crash. Authorities continue to review the incident as part of the ongoing investigation.

Fatal crashes involving parked vehicles on highway shoulders can present significant dangers, particularly during evening travel hours when visibility and reaction times may be affected.
