Bergen County Motorcycle Crash Leaves Rider Seriously Injured After Car Turns Into Parking Lot

A serious motorcycle crash in Bergen County on Sunday night left one rider hospitalized after a collision involving a turning vehicle in Teaneck, according to local authorities.
Police said the crash happened around 8 p.m. in the 600 block of Roemer Avenue. Investigators reported that a 49-year-old motorcyclist was traveling eastbound when he collided with a westbound sedan that was attempting to make a left turn into a parking lot.
The sedan was being driven by a 63-year-old man from New Milford. Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that the driver attempted the turn directly into the path of the motorcycle, leading to the impact.
Authorities said the motorcycle rider, who is also from New Milford, suffered serious injuries in the crash. Officials described the injuries as non-life-threatening, but the rider was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment.
The driver of the sedan was also taken to the same hospital after suffering minor injuries.
Following the collision, Roemer Avenue remained closed in both directions for several hours while police officers examined the scene and carried out the investigation. Emergency crews responded quickly to clear the roadway and assist those involved.
After reviewing the incident, police issued the driver of the sedan a motor vehicle summons for failure to yield.
The investigation remains active, and Teaneck police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information to come forward.
Motorcycle crashes involving turning vehicles continue to be a major safety concern across New Jersey, especially during evening traffic hours when visibility can become more challenging for both drivers and riders. Authorities regularly remind motorists to carefully check for motorcycles before making left-hand turns or entering parking lots.
