Woman Dies Following Tractor-Trailer Collision on Interstate 295 in Salem County

A 30-year-old woman from South Jersey lost her life on Friday morning after a serious crash involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 295 in Salem County, according to New Jersey State Police.

Authorities reported that the incident took place at around 9:34 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 295 near milepost 7.2 in Oldmans Township. The crash involved a Peterbilt tractor-trailer and a Chevrolet SUV traveling in the same direction.

Preliminary findings shared by investigators indicate that traffic conditions ahead began to slow down, leading the tractor-trailer to come to a stop in the right lane. Shortly after, the SUV driven by Carly A. Corrar of Penns Grove collided with the rear of the stopped truck.

As a result of the impact, Corrar suffered fatal injuries at the scene. A passenger in the SUV was also injured but those injuries were described as minor. The passenger was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. No other individuals were reported to be injured in the crash.

Officials have confirmed that the investigation into the circumstances of the collision is still ongoing. At this stage, authorities have not released additional details regarding factors that may have contributed to the crash, such as speed, visibility, or road conditions.

The incident has added to ongoing concerns about highway safety on busy commercial routes like Interstate 295, which regularly sees a mix of passenger vehicles and heavy freight traffic throughout the day. Interstate 295
