Man Killed While Crossing Busy New Jersey Highway in Early Morning Crash

A 30-year-old New Jersey man was hit and killed crossing a busy Old Bridge route early Saturday morning, officials said. The tragedy highlights the need of nighttime and early morning pedestrian safety on major state highways.
Officials reported a 1:25 a.m. Route 9 South crash near an Old Bridge vehicle dealership. Police came to find New Brunswicker Davon Porter dead from a car crash. Emergency personnel reported his death.
Police say a Honda CR-V hit Porter as he crossed the street. A 30-year-old Manalapaner drove. Due to the investigation, the driver’s name and charges are private.
Both Old Bridge Police and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office say detectives are investigating the crash. Investigate the crash’s causes. Authorities are examining every piece of fatal traffic accident information to clarify.
Highway 9 is New Jersey’s busiest 24/7. Many pedestrian accidents on these roads are lethal due to fast cars and limited visibility at night. The probe’s details haven’t been revealed, but officials will offer more if needed.
As with fatal car accidents, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and Old Bridge police are investigating. Authorities said public participation is needed for an honest investigation.
Police need public help in investigating. Contact detectives if you saw the crash or have any footage.
