ICE Newark Arrests 4 Illegal Child Sex Offenders Under Operation Apex Predator

 U.S. police team called ICE in Newark, along with two other groups, caught four men. These men were living in the U.S. without permission. They had also done bad things to children in the past. The police caught them as part of a special plan called Operation Apex Predator. This plan is made to find and arrest people who are in the country illegally and have hurt children before.

Arrests Made in July 2025

  • July 21, 2025: ICE arrested Gerson Jose Saenz Umana (27, El Salvador) and Javier Garcia Nicolasa (42, Mexico). 
    • Garcia Nicolasa was convicted in December 2023 for endangering the welfare of a child and was given 3 years in prison. 
    • Umana is a registered sex offender with a past criminal record involving a child.

  • July 17, 2025: ICE arrested Juan Villatoro Valle (45, El Salvador) and Reyes Peralta-Salazar (38, Mexico). 
    • Valle was convicted in 2019 for sexual assaults involving a child under 13 and was sentenced to 5 years in prison. 
    • Peralta-Salazar was convicted in 2023 for sexual conduct with a child and received 180 days in jail. 

All four men are registered sex offenders in New Jersey. They are now in ICE custody and will face either a court hearing with an immigration judge or deportation.

Operation Apex Predator is a Department of Homeland Security program run by the Cyber Crimes Center’s Child Exploitation Investigations Unit. It works to find and arrest illegal immigrants who have been convicted of sex crimes against children.
