Pennsylvania Pair Arrested After Motel Room Break-In and Assault at North Wildwood Property

A dispute between neighboring motel guests in North Wildwood ended with two Pennsylvania residents being arrested after police said the confrontation turned violent and led to a forced entry into another motel room.

According to North Wildwood police, the incident happened on Sunday at a motel located in the 300 block of John F. Kennedy Boulevard. Investigators said an argument between people staying in neighboring rooms escalated before a man and a woman allegedly kicked in the door of another occupied motel room and assaulted the people inside.

Police identified the suspects as 40-year-old Joseph W. Lyon of Bensalem, Pennsylvania, and 47-year-old Megan Soley of Levittown, Pennsylvania.

Authorities charged both Lyon and Soley with home invasion burglary in connection with the incident. Police also filed additional charges against Lyon, including criminal mischief and simple assault.

Soley is also facing a separate drug-related charge after officers allegedly found her in possession of Adderall and Diazepam without a valid prescription during the investigation.

Officials have not publicly identified the name of the motel where the incident occurred. However, police confirmed that the property is located on the 300 block of John F. Kennedy Boulevard in North Wildwood.

As of Wednesday morning, both suspects remained in custody at the Cape May County jail, according to jail records. Court records show that Soley has a detention hearing scheduled for Wednesday.

The records also indicate that both defendants are currently represented by public defenders. In addition, pre-indictment conferences for both cases are scheduled for Aug. 24 as the legal process moves forward.

The investigation remains active, and North Wildwood police are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact the department. Authorities are also accepting anonymous tips through the police department’s official reporting system.

The case highlights how a disagreement can quickly escalate into a serious criminal investigation when violence and unlawful entry are involved. At this stage, the charges represent allegations, and the case will continue through the New Jersey court system as prosecutors and defense attorneys present their arguments.
