Trump Showcases New White House ‘Golden Gift’ Image as Questions Emerge Over Its Authenticity

President Donald Trump shared what he described as a new “golden gift” for the White House as the country prepares for the 250th anniversary of the United States. The image, posted on Monday, quickly gained attention online after questions were raised about whether it showed a real installation or an AI-generated concept.
Trump posted a picture on his Truth Social account showing a large golden bald eagle placed on the Truman Balcony at the White House. The eagle featured its wings spread wide and included a shield with the design of the American flag. Along with the image, Trump wrote that it was “A Golden Gift to the White House for its 250th Birthday Year!”
The White House also shared the same image through its official X account, bringing even more public attention to the post.
Soon after the image appeared online, reports suggested that it may not represent a real object currently installed at the White House. According to reporting cited by CNN, the image appears to have been created using artificial intelligence rather than showing an actual sculpture on the Truman Balcony.
The report noted that metadata linked to the image indicated it was generated using Google AI technology. It also highlighted several visual details that raised questions about the picture. One of those details involved differences between the balcony railing shown in the image and the actual Truman Balcony. Another observation focused on the eagle’s shield, which displayed 11 stars instead of the traditional 13 stars that symbolize the original American colonies.
Additional questions emerged after Washington-based freelance photographer Andrew Leyden visited the White House following Trump’s post. According to the report, Leyden checked the Truman Balcony at around 9:30 p.m. on the same evening and said there was no golden eagle displayed at the location.
The image has become the latest example of AI-generated visuals associated with Trump’s public posts. CNN noted that Trump has shared several AI-created images since the 2024 presidential campaign and during his time back in the Oval Office.
While questions continue about the latest image, Trump’s preference for gold-colored design elements inside the White House is well documented. Since returning for his second term, he has introduced several decorative changes throughout the executive residence. These updates reportedly include 24-karat gold wall decals, matching gold-colored drapes, and additional gold detailing on the presidential seal positioned above the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office.
Trump previously discussed those design choices during an interview with Fox News in March of last year. He said he believed the Oval Office needed more visual appeal and explained why he preferred using real gold instead of gold-colored paint. According to Trump, attempts over the years to recreate the appearance of gold with paint have not matched the look of the actual material.
The newly shared image has sparked discussion because it combines Trump’s long-standing interest in gold-themed White House décor with growing public attention on the use of artificial intelligence in political communications. As of the information available in the reports, there has been no confirmation that a golden eagle sculpture has been installed on the Truman Balcony.
