New Jersey Set for Summer-Like Heat Before Weekend Storm Chances Return

New Jersey residents can expect a stretch of warm and sunny weather to close out the workweek, with temperatures rising into the upper 80s and low 90s across much of the state before conditions become less stable later in the weekend.
Thursday and Friday are expected to bring mainly dry weather and abundant sunshine, creating favorable conditions for outdoor activities, travel, and recreation across the Garden State. The warmer air moving into the region will push temperatures well above recent levels, giving many communities their first taste of significant summer heat.
Forecasters indicate that temperatures on Thursday will climb into the upper 80s in many locations, while some inland areas could approach the 90-degree mark. The combination of sunshine and warm air will make conditions feel noticeably hotter than earlier in the week.
While most of New Jersey will experience the warm-up, coastal communities are expected to remain cooler. Areas along the Jersey Shore will likely see temperatures ranging from the 70s to near 80 degrees. The cooler readings are being influenced by cold ocean water temperatures, which continue to moderate conditions near the coastline despite the broader warming trend affecting the rest of the state.
The dry weather pattern is expected to continue through Friday, providing another day of sunshine and above-average temperatures. Residents planning outdoor events or activities heading into the weekend should benefit from the pleasant conditions during the first part of the weekend.
However, the weather pattern is expected to shift later on Saturday as moisture increases across the region. Forecasts suggest that showers and thunderstorms could develop during the latter part of the day, bringing the possibility of wet weather after several days of sunshine.
The arrival of thunderstorms could interrupt outdoor plans in some locations, although much of the early portion of Saturday is expected to remain warm. Weather conditions can change quickly when thunderstorms develop, and residents are encouraged to stay aware of updated forecasts as the weekend approaches.
The upcoming forecast highlights a clear contrast between the first half of the period and the latter part of the weekend. After enjoying sunny skies and temperatures near or above 90 degrees in parts of the state, New Jersey could see a return to more unsettled weather by late Saturday.
For now, the dominant story remains the significant warm-up spreading across the state. Inland communities are likely to experience the hottest conditions, while shore areas continue to benefit from the cooling influence of the Atlantic Ocean. The combination of sunshine, dry weather, and rising temperatures is expected to make Thursday and Friday among the warmest days of the week before the chance for showers and thunderstorms returns.
