New Jersey Sees Surge of Million-Dollar Powerball Winners in a Single Drawing
A recent Powerball drawing turned into an extraordinary moment for lottery players in New Jersey, as 18 tickets across the state secured prizes of at least $1 million each. For many players, the odds of winning such prizes remain extremely low. The chance of hitting the Powerball jackpot with a standard $2 ticket stands at approximately 1 in 292 million. Even matching five numbers without the Powerball, which results in a second-prize win of at least $1 million, carries odds of about 1 in 11.6 million. Lower-tier prizes, such as $50,000, still involve odds of more than 1 in 900,000.
With the jackpot now reset following the split win, the next Powerball drawing will offer a top prize of $20 million, along with a cash option of $9.1 million. Drawings are held three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, and are available across 45 states as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
