Eight Students Hurt After School Bus and SUV Collide in Franklinville Morning Crash

A morning school commute turned alarming in Franklinville, Gloucester County, when a school bus carrying middle school students was involved in a collision with an SUV, resulting in multiple minor injuries among students, according to local authorities.

The incident took place on Wednesday when a school bus en route to Delsea Regional Middle School was traveling through the intersection of Coles Mills Road. At the same time, an SUV moving south on Williamstown Road reportedly failed to stop at a posted stop sign. As a result, the SUV struck the school bus, causing a sudden crash during the morning school run.

Officials confirmed that there were around 30 students onboard the bus at the time of the collision. Following the impact, eight students suffered minor injuries. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to assess the situation and provide immediate assistance.

Seven of the injured students were treated and released back to their parents or school officials shortly after the incident. One student was taken to a nearby hospital for additional evaluation and treatment of minor injuries. Authorities have not reported any life-threatening conditions among the students.

The driver of the SUV was also injured and transported to a hospital, where medical staff reported his condition as stable with a head injury. Three passengers who were inside the SUV were also taken to medical facilities for treatment of various injuries.

Due to the severity of the impact, the school bus was disabled and could not continue its route. School district officials, along with law enforcement, coordinated alternate transportation to ensure the remaining students were safely moved to their school.

Police officials stated that, at this stage, no charges have been filed against any individual involved in the crash. However, the investigation is still ongoing as authorities work to determine the full sequence of events leading to the collision.

Local authorities emphasized that safety at intersections with stop signs remains a key concern, especially in school transportation zones where buses operate during peak morning hours.

The incident has raised renewed attention on road safety awareness for drivers sharing routes with school transportation, particularly during busy school commute times in residential areas.
