Eagles Center Cam Jurgens Says Healthy Offseason Has Put Him Back on Track Ahead of New Season
The Philadelphia Eagles are expecting improvements across their offense this season, but much of that success will depend on the health and performance of the team’s offensive line. One player drawing attention before the new campaign is center Cam Jurgens, who says he is finally feeling healthier after spending much of last season battling ongoing pain.
After dealing with physical setbacks that affected both his performance and daily life, Jurgens believes this offseason has given him the fresh start he needed. The Eagles center recently explained that his pain has decreased significantly, allowing him to train properly for the first time in nearly two years.
Last season was a difficult one for Jurgens. He continued playing despite knee pain from an injury and lingering back problems following offseason surgery. Those physical challenges limited his movement, reduced his strength, and made it harder to perform at the level expected from one of the key members of Philadelphia’s offensive line.
Instead of entering each game fully prepared, Jurgens spent much of the season simply trying to recover from week to week. Rather than focusing entirely on improving his football performance, much of his energy went toward managing pain and getting his body ready to play.
Following the season, Jurgens traveled to Colombia to receive stem cell therapy. He chose the treatment after hearing positive experiences from other NFL players who believed it helped speed up their recovery compared to traditional rehabilitation methods. According to Jurgens, the treatment has helped reduce inflammation and improve how he feels every day.
He said his pain has gone down and that his overall quality of life has improved. Those changes have allowed him to return to normal offseason training instead of spending most of his time recovering from injuries.
During an appearance on the “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast this offseason, Jurgens also shared details about the serious back injury he suffered during the 2024 playoffs. He explained that part of a damaged disc broke away and wrapped around his sciatic nerve, causing severe pain that affected his leg.
Recovering from that injury meant he missed the 2025 offseason, leaving him unable to complete the type of training most NFL players rely on before the regular season begins. Without a full offseason to rebuild strength and conditioning, Jurgens entered last year trying to catch up physically while also competing at the highest level.
He described feeling as though he was constantly playing from behind. Every week became another attempt to improve his body enough to perform on game day, but the recovery process never fully caught up with the demands of the NFL season.
This year has been different. With a healthier body and a complete offseason available for training, Jurgens says he finally feels like he has a clean slate. Instead of comparing himself to where he hoped to be, he now sees clear progress each week and believes he is in a much stronger position than he was a year ago.
Although he admits some discomfort may still return during the season, Jurgens says he has learned how to manage those challenges better while continuing to focus on staying available for his team.
The upcoming season also carries added expectations for the Eagles center. Jurgens is entering the next chapter of his four-year, $68 million contract and hopes improved health will allow him to perform at the level both he and the organization expect. Last season, Pro Football Focus ranked him as the NFL’s 18th-best center, a season that came while he was dealing with significant physical limitations.
For Philadelphia, having a healthier Cam Jurgens could be one of the most important developments heading into the new season. If he can stay on the field and play without the constant pain that affected him last year, the Eagles’ offensive line could be in a much stronger position as the team looks to build a more consistent offense.
