Police Arrest Driver After Early Morning Lamborghini Theft Sparks Multi-Town Pursuit in North Jersey

In a dramatic early morning incident in North Jersey, police arrested a driver after a stolen luxury SUV triggered a multi-town chase across several communities, while a second suspect and an assisting vehicle remain at large, according to authorities.
The incident began around 3:30 a.m. when two men allegedly broke into a vehicle customization shop, MoeModz, located in Elmwood Park, Bergen County. During the break-in, a purple Lamborghini Urus was stolen from the premises, prompting an immediate police response once the theft was reported.
Law enforcement officials said the stolen vehicle was first tracked moving through Newark. When officers attempted to approach, the driver refused to stop and sped away, continuing to evade police.
The pursuit later resumed in Upper Saddle River, where the vehicle was seen again. In an effort to stop the SUV safely, officers deployed spike strips along Route 17 South near an entrance ramp to the Garden State Parkway. Despite this, authorities reported that the vehicle continued fleeing across multiple jurisdictions.
Elmwood Park Police Chief Michael Foligno stated that several law enforcement agencies coordinated during the chase as the suspect attempted to escape through different towns in the region.
The pursuit eventually came to an end in Hillside, Union County, when the Lamborghini was forced to stop after suffering a flat tire. At that point, both the driver and a passenger exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
Police were able to apprehend the driver shortly after the vehicle stopped. The passenger, however, managed to escape and remains wanted. Authorities also confirmed that they are searching for a separate “follow vehicle” believed to have assisted in the initial theft.
Officials have not released additional details about the suspects as the investigation remains ongoing. Law enforcement agencies are continuing to gather evidence and review surveillance footage from multiple locations involved in the chase.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
