Georgia Murder Suspect Arrested in New Jersey After Multi-State Search

A man wanted in connection with a murder investigation in Georgia has been taken into custody in New Jersey, bringing a significant development in a case that began weeks earlier with a missing person report.

According to official information released by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, 35-year-old Loron Spaulding, a resident of Gainesville, Georgia, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service. Authorities confirmed that he was wanted in connection with the death of a woman whose body was discovered near a highway in Georgia.

The case dates back to February 20, when 30-year-old Diaja Benson, originally from Dawsonville, was reported missing. Her disappearance prompted concern and an investigation by local authorities. Weeks later, on March 13, her body was found near Lanier 400 Parkway in Cumming, Georgia. Following this discovery, the Cumming Police Department requested assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to further examine the circumstances surrounding her death.

Investigators later identified Spaulding as a suspect in the case. He has been formally charged with malice murder, a serious offense under Georgia law that involves intentional killing with prior intent. Law enforcement agencies began searching for him across state lines, ultimately leading to his arrest in New Jersey. Officials have not disclosed the exact location within New Jersey where he was apprehended.

At this time, Spaulding remains in custody in New Jersey as legal procedures move forward. Authorities confirmed that he is awaiting extradition to Georgia, where he will be transferred to Forsyth County Jail. The extradition process allows a suspect to be returned to the state where the alleged crime took place so that court proceedings can continue.

Officials have not yet released details regarding legal representation for Spaulding, and no further information about the investigation has been made public. Law enforcement agencies continue to handle the case, focusing on ensuring due process and a thorough legal review.

This arrest marks an important step in the investigation, as authorities work toward resolving the case and delivering justice through the legal system. The involvement of multiple agencies highlights the coordination required in cases that cross state boundaries.
