Snowboarding Stunt on Lakewood Street Leads to Serious Injury During Snowstorm

A car-towed Lakewood snowboarder lost control and was hospitalized, police said. The incident occurred late Sunday night during a heavy blizzard.
The 11:47 p.m. Faraday Avenue crash was investigated by Lakewood Township police on Monday. Authorities said the victim was roped and snowboarding behind a moving vehicle. After losing control on the icy road, the snowboarder entered traffic and was hit by another car.
Injury victim seeks nearby hospital treatment. An official said the person is stable. The automobile driver towing the snowboarder will face multiple motor vehicle crimes and a felony for endangering another by providing a substantial risk of bodily injury.
Lakewood Police Chief Gregory H. Meyer called the prank “dangerous” and “irresponsible.” Dragging someone behind a car on public roads can kill or maim everyone. Chief Meyer encouraged locals to be careful and avoid harm.
Police did not identify the driver or victim. The crash is under official investigation. The Lakewood weekend snowfall brought 10 inches of snow, making travel dangerous.
This incident highlights the perils of stunts on public roads, especially in bad weather, and encourages safety and traffic rule compliance.
