Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill’s inaugural celebrations include free admission to seven of New Jersey’s top museums this Saturday. The program is organized by Sherrill’s transition team and Mission to Deliver New Jersey, her inaugural host.

The free museum day celebrates New Jersey’s history, science, and culture during the next administration’s focus on unification. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 12 state museums provide free entry. Up to 230 people will be admitted first-come, first-served at each location.

Event organizers said Mission to Deliver New Jersey is spending $20,000 on free entrance. To let various families, students, and residents rejoice without financial restraints.

To celebrate the state’s rich history, Liberty Science Center, the New Jersey State Museum, Battleship New Jersey, Edelman Fossil Park, Northlandz, Sterling Hill Mine, the Maritime Museum, and others participate. Their science, aviation, history, art, and natural discovery exhibits make the festival fun for all ages.

The Monmouth Museum in Lincroft first declined due to its small charity status, but it attracted attention earlier in the week. After clarification, museum authorities said they would participate for the first 230 guests. Museum executives supported the governor-elect and offered to work with lawmakers to honor New Jersey’s cultural treasures.

The free museum day is one of many public events before Tuesday’s swearing-in. Many weekend events will feature Sherrill and her November running mate, Dale Caldwell. On Saturday, Caldwell will emphasize the administration’s history and public involvement at the New Jersey State Museum and Battleship New Jersey.

In a statement from her transition team, Sherrill said she wants to unite people, honor the state’s proud past, and continue peaceful power transfers. Her remarks reflect the weekend’s civic life and state resource theme.

Former Democratic congresswoman Mikie Sherrill will become New Jersey’s 57th governor on Tuesday after a decisive November election. To start the new administration with inclusive and ceremonial festivities, Mission to Deliver New Jersey is organizing the governor-elect’s formal inaugural gala and a free museum.
