Three Abandoned Puppies Found Near New Jersey School, Police Seek Public Assistance

Three puppies abandoned near a school early Sunday morning spurred a Passaic County investigation. Officials need community help identifying the criminal.

A Clifton neighbor called police after seeing a white SUV stop outside Clifton School 3 at Washington Avenue and 7th Street about 8 a.m. A woman allegedly fled, abandoned three puppies, and drove away.

Lt. Robert Anderson of Clifton Police called it animal abuse under NJ law. Police are looking for the offender and protecting the animals.

Local animal welfare groups quickly fed, sheltered, and treated the puppies. Officials warned public pet disposal, especially near schools, endangers animals, neighbors, and children.

Anyone with vehicle, person, or other information should call Clifton Police immediately. Residents should report odd behavior to deter and punish criminals.

Animal abandonment and pet ownership bother communities more. Never leave pets unattended in public and contact local shelters and rescue groups, say authorities.

Authorities promise to investigate all leads. Combating animal abuse and preserving vulnerable animals requires community collaboration.
