Deadly Confrontation Outside Upscale Woodland Park Venue Claims Life of Plainfield Man

The late-night fight outside a Woodland Park high-end catering and event site murdered a 46-year-old Plainfield man. Westmount Country Club, a Passaic County wedding and Christmas party venue, celebrated before midnight Thursday.

After 11:50 p.m., the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and local police found a man not responding outside the venue. At Paterson’s St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, he died.

Investigators believe the victim fought outside the country club. The Plainfield fighter who hit a face lost. He drove away from the fight, police said.

The Woodland Park Police Chief and Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes are investigating the death. Nobody has been arrested, and the perpetrator is unknown. Police recommend reporting the incident to Passaic County Prosecutor.
