New Jersey Man Arrested for Kidnapping Disabled Resident, Assaulting Police Officer

Deptford Township police arrested a Camden man for kidnapping a disabled 59-year-old during a home invasion and assaulting a police officer. One occurrence raises concerns about violent crimes against vulnerable populations.
Lahque St. Juste, 32, entered the victim’s 800 May Avenue home Thursday, police said. Police say the suspect abused the victim before driving his black Mercedes to Camden. This victim was reportedly told to withdraw money for him. St. Juste brought the victim home after finding the money he couldn’t take.
An abrupt 911 cut sparked police investigation. A witness called police after seeing the man shoved into the car. Deptford Township police quickly anticipated the Mercedes. After the car arrived, cops helped the injured flee.
St. Juste allegedly tried to disarm an officer during arrest. He bit a hospitalized cop during the brawl.
St. Juste is charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, burglary, resisting arrest, and police disarming.
Deptford Police Chief Joseph Smith lauded officers’ bravery and speed. I honor our brave officers. He stated 24/7 community service.
Victims are protected against crime by local supervision. Police continue to urge residents to report suspicious activity immediately.
