N.J. Cyclist Hospitalized with Broken Jaw After Violent Road-Rage Clash in Belmar

New Jersey Shore police are investigating a road-rage attack that seriously injured a cyclist. On Thursday afternoon in Belmar, a driver and a cyclist argued and got violent.
Officials reported that 12th Avenue and D Street were policed after the encounter. Officers found the motorcyclist with severe head and face injuries. After the attack, physicians found a broken jaw that needed rapid treatment.
Police claim 37-year-old Belmar resident Anthony Alvear pulled over and hit the bike. According to witnesses and police testimonies, road-rage grew swiftly and left the victim defenseless.
A local hospital treated the injured man. Authorities have not disclosed his recovery, but they called his condition severe. Summer traffic on Jersey Shore roadways alarmed neighbors about aggressive driving.
After the investigation, Alvear was charged with second-degree aggravated assault. The charge is significant in New Jersey, especially if the victim is severely hurt. Alvear was arrested and will face legal proceedings in Monmouth County, officials said.
Local police warn that driving rage can turn deadly. Safety advocates advise drivers and motorcyclists to keep calm and respectful since traffic disputes are never worth the physical and legal implications.
After the incident, New Jersey’s Jersey Shore community is considering bike safety, road sharing, and aggressive driving. Late summer traffic rises, therefore authorities encourage patience and discretion to avoid repeating events.
