Kidnapped Woman Escapes Soundproof Bunker After 13 Years of Stalking Stalking Samantha Hulu Story

“I Didn’t Picture Myself Surviving”: Woman Kidnapped & Held in Soundproof Bunker Reveals How She Escaped

A woman who was kidnapped by her stalker is now telling her story in a new film. She was kept in a scary, soundproof bunker, but she escaped bravely.

Her name is Samantha Stites. In 2022, she was kidnapped by Christopher Thomas, who followed her for more than 13 years. He made a small, dark room with no windows, locked her with chains, and left her inside.

A Real-Life Horror Story

In the new Hulu docuseries, “Stalking Samantha: 13 Years of Terror,” Samantha describes the bunker as a “torture chamber.”

“It’s every person’s worst nightmare,” she said. “I knew being locked in this tiny room… I likely had a low chance for survival.”

How Did She Escape?

Samantha knew her only hope was to trick her captor. She pretended to be interested in having a relationship with him.

She made a deal with him: “You promise me Christopher, that if I sleep with you, you will let me out tonight.”

She even made him shake her hand to promise. Surprisingly, he agreed and let her go after 13 terrifying hours.

“I think at the end of the day, everyone has the capacity to do something incredible to save their own life,” Samantha said about her brave decision.

13 Years of Stalking

The stalking began back in 2011 when they met in college. Thomas began following her everywhere, even moving states to be near her after she graduated.

Samantha got a restraining order in 2014, but it expired. When the stalking started again in 2020, she tried to get a new one, but a judge denied her request. She called this denial a “slap in the face.”

Where is the Stalker Now?

Christopher Thomas pleaded guilty to kidnapping, torture, and stalking. In February 2024, he was sentenced to 40 to 60 years in prison.

If he is ever released, he will be required to wear a GPS tracking device for the rest of his life.

Samantha’s incredible story of survival can be seen in the docuseries “Stalking Samantha: 13 Years of Terror,” which is available to stream on Hulu.
