Children’s Kitchen Step Stools Recalled Across U.S. After Safety Reports Leave Multiple Kids Injured
Parents across the United States are being urged to immediately stop using certain children’s kitchen step stools after a nationwide safety recall involving thousands of products sold through Amazon. Federal safety officials say the affected toddler learning towers may become unstable during normal use, creating serious risks for young children.
The recall affects approximately 91,000 Woodure-branded toddler kitchen step stools that were available to consumers across the country. According to federal regulators, the products may collapse or tip over while a child is standing on them. Investigators also found that the design includes openings on the front and back where a child’s torso could become trapped, increasing the risk of serious injury.
The safety concerns have already been linked to multiple incidents. Authorities say the manufacturer received 22 reports involving instability or tip-over events. Among those reports, 15 children suffered injuries, including cuts, bruises, and scrapes. While the reported injuries have been described as minor to moderate, safety officials warn that the identified hazards could potentially lead to much more serious accidents if the products continue to be used.
The recalled products are Woodure-branded children’s tower kitchen step stools with model numbers WD1764, WD1357, and WD1720. The learning towers are made from plywood and are designed to help toddlers safely reach kitchen counters and sinks while participating in everyday household activities. The recalled units measure approximately 18 inches deep, 16.9 inches wide, and 34.6 inches tall. Consumers can identify the affected products by checking the model number engraved on the underside of the bottom step.
The step stools were sold exclusively through Amazon between July 2024 and June 2026. Depending on the model and listing, customers typically paid between $60 and $100 for the product.
Rather than offering refunds, the manufacturer has announced a repair program to address the safety issues. Owners of the recalled step stools are advised to stop using the products immediately and keep them out of children’s reach until the repair has been completed.
The free repair kit includes protective safety nets, stabilising feet, and detailed installation instructions designed to reduce the identified hazards. The manufacturer will ship the repair kit directly to affected customers at no charge.
Consumer safety experts recommend that parents and carers avoid allowing children to use any recalled product until all required repairs have been properly installed. Even products intended to encourage learning and independence can become dangerous if they fail to meet established safety standards.
