Mississippi Pastor’s Family Members Arrested After Investigation Into Teen Pregnancy
Authorities in Mississippi have arrested a pastor’s son and his mother following an investigation into the alleged sexual abuse of a minor, a case that has also raised questions about whether a local church event may have been connected to the teenager’s pregnancy.
According to law enforcement officials, Dawson James Brown was taken into custody on July 17 after investigators received information that a 14-year-old girl was pregnant. The investigation was launched by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office after officers were notified about the situation involving the juvenile.
Police allege that the girl became pregnant when she was 13 years old. Investigators believe the pregnancy occurred sometime around October or November 2025. Based on the evidence gathered during the investigation, Dawson Brown now faces multiple serious criminal charges.
Authorities have charged Brown with one count of statutory rape, two counts of sexual battery, and one count of human trafficking. The charges remain allegations, and the case will move through the legal process in court.
The investigation has also led to the arrest of Brown’s mother, Sabrina Brown. Investigators accuse her of attempting to interfere with the investigation after learning about the alleged crimes. She has been charged with conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence, attempted tampering with physical evidence, and child neglect.
Officials have not publicly released additional details explaining the specific actions that resulted in the evidence tampering allegations. Those accusations, like the charges against Dawson Brown, will also be addressed through the court system.
The case has drawn significant public attention because Dawson Brown is the son of a pastor and Sabrina Brown is the pastor’s wife. Their connection to New Heights/College Heights Baptist Church in Poplarville has prompted additional questions within the local community.
Law enforcement officials are also investigating reports regarding whether a baby shower may have been held at the church in connection with the teenager’s pregnancy. Authorities have not announced any findings related to that part of the investigation, and no criminal charges connected to the reported church event have been disclosed at this time.
Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the case, including any additional evidence that may be relevant. Officials have not indicated whether further arrests or charges could follow as the investigation remains active.
