Ohio River Rescue Turns Fatal as Five People Lose Their Lives Trying to Help Swimmer

During the emergency, a passing motorist noticed a frightened child from the group running along a nearby road in search of help. The driver immediately contacted 911, allowing emergency responders to begin a large-scale search and rescue operation.

Rescue crews searched the river throughout Sunday. Two women were located in the water and taken to a nearby hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.

The search continued into Monday as emergency teams worked to recover the remaining missing individuals. Authorities later confirmed that the bodies of three men were found in the river, bringing the total number of deaths to five. Officials have not released details about the exact locations where the victims were recovered.
