Fatal Early Morning Crash Near New Jersey Turnpike Service Area Claims One Life

A 40-year-old driver was killed in a terrible collision on the New Jersey Turnpike early on Monday morning after his car struck a parked tractor-trailer close to a service area, according to state authorities.

The event happened near the James Fenimore Cooper Service Area in Mount Laurel, on the northbound side of the highway, at around 6:02 a.m. According to officials, the driver, Mohamed Hassan of Glen Allen, Virginia, was driving an SUV when it collided with the back of a vehicle that was parked along the exit ramp.

The car went off the road after the initial impact and collided with a nearby light pole. Shortly after the incident, emergency personnel arrived at the scene, where Hassan was declared dead.

No other people were hurt in the event, according to the authorities. There were no reported injuries to the occupants of the parked tractor-trailer involved in the collision.

The incident scene is situated between exits 4 and 5 on the New Jersey Turnpike, close to milepost 39.4, an area that usually sees heavy traffic in the early morning.
