Giants Eye Former NFL Head Coaches for Key Offensive Role
The Giants are fast filling their coaching staff under John Harbaugh, but offensive coordinator is still available. Harbaugh needs this position to develop a dynamic offense around second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Harbaugh likes offensive coordinators Brian Callahan and Kliff Kingsbury. Titans head coach Callahan finished 4-19 last year. From 2019 to 2023, he directed the Bengals’ offense with imaginative play-calling and quarterback development.
In 2024–2025, Kliff Kingsbury was Washington Commanders offensive coordinator. He focused on offensive strategy and quarterback performance as Arizona Cardinals head coach from 2019 to 2022. Harbaugh may interview both prospects to assess their offense.
New York considered Harbaugh’s former Baltimore offensive coordinator Todd Monken. From 2023 to 2025, Monken led Ravens offense. After Monken became Cleveland’s head coach, Harbaugh had to consider other outstanding possibilities.
Harbaugh has considered offensive possibilities Shane Day, Davis Webb, Jim Bob Cooter, and Alex Tanney. Coaches know quarterback development, passing game strategy, and offensive planning.
Without being offensive coordinator, Harbaugh has steadied the offensive coaching staff with many major changes. Wide receivers are coached by assistant quarterbacks coach Chad Hall. Longtime Giants receivers coach Mike Groh was fired. Willie Taggart, Harbaugh’s Ravens running back coach, will coach. Kelly will coach tight ends.
Since Harbaugh specializes in special teams, the Giants’ offensive coordinator hire is crucial. A good coordinator shapes Jaxson Dart’s offense. To be competitive and balanced, the Giants need a coordinator, quarterback, and offensive line coaches.
Harbaugh emphasises experienced coaches, especially former NFL head coaches, to establish a stable system and develop his young quarterback. Team activities in the coming weeks may affect their season.
