$50,000 Powerball Prizes in New Jersey Still Unclaimed as Deadlines Near

New Jersey Powerball advises players to examine two unclaimed $50,000 tickets before they expire. Powerball ticket buyers in Middlesex and Ocean County earlier this year could win unexpectedly. Early 2026 will bring deadlines.

The NJ Lottery uncovered an unclaimed ticket. It happened at a Lafayette Road 7-Eleven in Edison, Middlesex County. This January 13, 2025 Powerball ticket is valid until January 13, 2026. Wine Outlet on Arnold Avenue in Point Pleasant Beach, Ocean County, sold the second unclaimed drawing ticket on February 1, 2025. After February 1, 2026, the ticket is invalid.

Powerball’s third jackpot went to both tickets. Each won $50,000 with four white balls and Powerball. The winning numbers on January 13 were 4, 6, 16, 39, and 66. A 2x Power Play and 9 Powerball occurred. Powerball 8 won twice on February 1—32, 29, 49, 23, and 61.

NJ Lottery winners have one year from the drawing date to claim their tickets. No ticket value matters; the reward money is gone. Write your name on the back of lottery tickets to keep them safe. Lost tickets might be problematic.

Since other $50,000 tickets from the February 1 drawing have been claimed, it’s easy to identify which rewards haven’t been claimed. The winning tickets were purchased at a Cresskill, Bergen County 7-Eleven and a Pilesgrove, Salem County Wawa on Route 45. Some lottery winners may not know how much they have because some didn’t claim their wins.

This happens frequently. This year, Mercer County residents spotted a $1 million Mega Millions ticket in a trash can. That event educated the state about unclaimed lottery jackpots and showed how losing a ticket can transform a life.

The New Jersey Lottery advises January and February 2025 Powerball ticket holders to check their numbers. A rapid inspection may be needed with dates and tens of thousands of dollars at risk.
