Stockton University Prepares for Major $19.5 Million Library Upgrade

The Richard E. Bjork Library at Stockton University in New Jersey will be renovated for $19.5 million next fall to facilitate student study. The 60,000-square-foot building was rebuilt to enhance campus students’ collaborative and independent learning.
New York, New Brunswick, and Philadelphia-based DIGroup Architecture is revamping the library’s E-Wing. The company plans to add student collaboration spaces, quiet study rooms, tutoring and advisement, career development offices, media recording studios, a café, and a special collections archive and gallery to all three floors.
The 2022 New Jersey State Bond Solicitation covers the rehabilitation, showing the state’s commitment to improving education infrastructure and facilities.
“The Bjork Library renovation reflects a forward-looking approach to how students study and collaborate today,” said DIG associate principal Jaime Masler Beach. Our design makes quiet study rooms and social and café areas flow naturally, accommodating varied student demands.
In 2022, DIG Architecture began programming and is now designing. The business collaborated with Stockton students, teachers, and stakeholders to meet rebuilding needs. To design quiet and interactive study areas, acoustics, spatial organization, and functional adaptability were considered
The refurbishment features a basic and useful circulation core to connect the library. This space promotes casual student interaction and easily links study spaces.
DIG recently completed Hofstra University’s Axinn Library’s eleventh level. The firm’s “Architecture for Change” technique builds affordable, adaptable, and comfortable schools.
“Education is a gateway to opportunity,” said DIG CEO and co-founder Jeffrey Venezia. We foster student learning and progress by providing effective and adaptable facilities, which benefits the community.
This renovation will give Stockton University students a modern library experience that emphasizes cooperation, technology, and accessible study areas. Student activities and academic success are expected at New Bjork Library next year.
