N.J. Weather Update: Snow, Rain, and Wintry Mix Expected Tuesday

A storm near the coast will bring snow, rain, and other winter weather to New Jersey on Tuesday. Cloudy Saturday will be cold and dry. The following few days will bring major changes. We predict low to mid-40s today, a few degrees below normal for this time of year. Weekend planning will be easier with calm morning breezes and warm, unpredictable evening winds. Overnight temperatures will drop to the mid-20s to high 20s inland and low to mid-30s around the coast.
The weather will change swiftly north of New Jersey on Sunday. Morning and afternoon snow and rain may occur simultaneously. It’s 40s inland but low to mid-50s on the Jersey Shore. The beach may get 25–30 mph winds and rain. Eastward winds will keep Sunday night chilly and dry.
High pressure makes Monday cold and dry. Northwest breezes will calm as highs reach the mid 30s to low 40s. Overnight lows will be in the low 20s inland and upper 20s to low 30s coastal. This will cool things until Tuesday’s storm.
The Tuesday coastal storm might bring snow north. The storm may bring 1–4 inches of rain to Northwestern New Jersey, but its course is unclear. North of the fall line will snow harder, southeast of I-95 will rain. The rain-snow boundary may move northwest during the day, making prediction problematic. Rain may fall in southern New Jersey, but I-95 may snow.
Once the storm system passes, Wednesday should be dry. The state will see low pressure and frigid weather this week, but no rain. New Jersey is angry that long-term forecasts predict more snowstorms next weekend.
Prepare to explore snowy northern regions by checking weather forecasts. Ice and sludge make winter driving perilous.
