Are Republicans Turning on Trump? New Poll Reveals Troubling Numbers

Recent polls show Republican support for former President Trump declining. Donald Trump has 82% Republican support, down from 87% weeks ago. Despite his majority, the downward trend suggests Trump may face party challenges as political debates intensify.

Trump did poorly in American polls. Adult approval dropped to 38% in his second term. Early this year, Trump’s approval dropped to 47%.

Trump’s management of high-profile issues like releasing sensitive legal documents may have annoyed people. Recently passed Senate legislation mandates the Justice Department release Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking records. Trump urged Republicans to oppose the bill, calling the documents a “hoax”. His opinion changed and he supported weekend file release. Even after this change, 59% of Americans dislike his Epstein scandal response. He had 30% Republican opposition.

Concerns about the economy and cost of living increased in the survey. But only 26% thought Trump handled daily economic issues well. Cost of living and affordability made him unpopular with 65% of the public, including one in three Republicans. Democrats won closely watched races in New Jersey, Virginia, and New York City, where affordability was key, due to dissatisfaction.

Trump is less popular elsewhere. Immigration 10%, economy 24%, living costs 39% negative. As politics become more complex, these numbers show how Trump’s policies fail public opinion.

For the November 14–17 poll of 1,017 U.S. adults, the margin of error was three points. These numbers may affect Republican party strategies and swing state voter behavior as election cycles and debates approach.

According to data, supporters and the public scrutinize even powerful party figures like Trump. His political future and party base may depend on how the former president handles these issues.
