The Breakfast Club Returns to Theaters for 40th Anniversary Celebration

Four years later, five additional kids join The Breakfast Club on film. For its 40th anniversary, the John Hughes classic will return to theaters in September. See why it’s one of America’s most iconic coming-of-age films.

The film will be shown again in theaters countrywide on September 7 and 10. Universal Pictures will screen the picture that defined a generation and will last forever on its anniversary.

Anthony Michael Hall plays Brian Johnson, Emilio Estevez plays Andrew Clark, Ally Sheedy plays Allison Reynolds, and Judd Nelson plays John Bender in The Breakfast Club. The actors played intricate roles including “princess,” “athlete,” “brain,” “basket case,” and “criminal.”

Shermer High’s Saturday detention library story is significant. The 2009-deceased John Hughes wrote about youths’ dreams and fears. It was one of the most influential teen dramas as many viewers remembered high school.

When released in February 1985, it was successful. The $1 million production expense earned over $51 million worldwide. The 1980s Hollywood “Brat Pack,” a group of young actors, was also influenced by the film. Worldwide, Simple Minds’ “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” was popular. Film and music history contain it.
