Yankees Explode for Nine Runs in a Single Inning Against Nationals at Yankee Stadium

The New York Yankees played their finest innings of the season against the Washington Nationals at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. The Yankees scored nine runs in the third inning, demonstrating power, patience, and base running. As the Bronx Bombers proved their moniker, the inning kept fans up.

A sharp right field single by Ben Rice started the rally. After that, the Yankees’ core played. Franchise icon Aaron Judge smashed a two-strike curveball over the center-field wall to delight the crowd. One pitch later, Cody Bellinger crushed a 94-mph cutter to right-center. The Yankees gained momentum instantly and never slowed.

The power rally accelerated when Jazz Chisholm Jr. walked and stole second. As the Nationals fought to minimize the damage, rising star Jasson Dominguez doubled to right-center, adding another run. Washington was relieved when Anthony Volpe lined out to second base.

The inning got wilder when Austin Wells reached base on a rare catcher’s interference call. On the play, catcher Drew Millas fractured his finger and left the game, forcing Washington to put Riley Adams behind the plate and lose their DH. That lineup adjustment harmed the Nationals immediately.

McMahon quickly launched a three-run homer into the right-field seats to extend the Yankees’ run total. Nationals starter Cade Cavalli was pulled and reliever Shinnosuke Ogasawara was called in to stop the bleeding. However, Yankee batters persisted. Ben Rice hit his second home run of the inning on a full-count slider to right field after Trent Grisham struck out.

Judge singled again, and Bellinger and Chisholm walked to load the bases. Before Volpe struck out to end the extended inning, Dominguez hit an infield RBI single near third base to continue the carousel.

When it was over, the Yankees had 15 batters, eight hits, and four home runs in one inning. Over 40 minutes, the offense left the Nationals powerless. Yankee Stadium supporters were thrilled to see how devastating the lineup can be when hot.

In the nine-run inning, patience and strategy were as important as power. Yankees long balls and disciplined at-bats caused Washington pitchers to throw high-stress pitches, drawing walks. This offensive explosion could help a club gain momentum late in the season.

Judge, Bellinger, Dominguez, and Rice might overwhelm any pitching staff. Yankees’ offense is alive and well, and this inning’s fireworks and message to MLB will be remembered.
