Chaos on Route 31: Tractor-Trailer Crashes into N.J. Gentlemen’s Club After Fiery Collision
Early Morning Chaos: Truck Smashes into Obsessions Club, Sparks Shock and Suspense in Hampton
Hampton Borough, NJ — August 3, 2025:
Before dawn on Saturday, Hunterdon County was calm until a huge tractor-trailer crashed into the side of a building. The building used to be the well-known Route 31 Obsessions Gentlemen’s Club. At 5:36 a.m., the event shocked the people in the area. First responders were working quickly to limit the harm.
The New Jersey State Police say it all began when the truck hit a private car near milepost 39.1. The impact threw the huge 18-wheeler off the road and right into the building of the club. As the truck hit a utility pole and the building shook, live power lines snapped, and the scene became a mess of sparks, fuel, and bent metal.
Reports say that both drivers were only slightly hurt, which is a miracle given how badly things were damaged. Responding first responders reported that they declined to go to the hospital. The real shock, though, came from what happened next.
Another mystery is that the police haven’t said for sure if anyone was inside Obsessions Gentlemen’s Club at the time of the hit. The outcome could have been very bad. Some damage was done to the building’s frame, but it’s still not clear how much it will hurt business. The city or the club hasn’t said when or if the doors will open again.
Hazmat teams carefully stopped the truck’s fuel leak so that things wouldn’t get worse. Not only did the emergency workers clean up the spill, they also worked quickly to support the weak structure by building temporary supports before taking the truck away.
The Hampton Fire Company, the Glen Gardner Fire Company, South Branch Emergency Services, Hunterdon County Hazmat, Emergency Management, Urban Search and Rescue, and ambulances were some of the many groups that responded.
A normally calm morning turned into a scary and nervous event on Route 31. Someone broke a building and some lines fell down. Now people in the town are wondering what would have happened if the time had been different.
