Man Escapes Through Second-Floor Window as Early Morning House Fire Injures Seven in Pine Hill, New Jersey
Seven members of a family were injured after a fast-moving house fire broke out in Pine Hill, New Jersey, during the early hours of Tuesday morning. Among those hurt was a man who escaped the flames by jumping from a second-floor window as smoke and fire quickly spread through the home.
According to local police, the fire started around 1 a.m. at a residence located on the 100 block of Erial Road. Emergency crews were called to the scene after reports of heavy smoke and flames coming from the back portion of the house.
When officers arrived, six people had already made it outside the burning home. Police and emergency responders then located the seventh occupant at the moment he jumped from a second-floor window in an attempt to escape the rapidly intensifying fire.
All seven individuals from the household were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Officials confirmed that the injured included a married couple, their four children, and the husband’s father. The father was the individual who jumped from the window while trying to escape the fire.
Firefighters worked quickly to bring the blaze under control, managing to contain it in approximately 40 minutes. Despite their efforts, the home suffered extensive damage from smoke and soot and has been declared uninhabitable.
Authorities have stated that the cause of the fire remains under investigation. However, at this stage, it is not being treated as suspicious.
