Scotch Plains Grieves Young Teen Lost in E-Bike Collision

A landscaping car hit 13-year-old Nico Lombardi on his e-bike Wednesday afternoon, killing him. Scotch Plains mourns his loss. The horrible accident at Mountain and Mountainview roads injured Lombardi terribly. Sad he didn’t make it to University Hospital in Newark after being taken promptly. Government claims no charges have been filed.
Nico’s death shook the town and devastated his family, friends, and coworkers. Family started a GoFundMe page for him. It said a loved boy died too soon in a horrific accident. A fundraiser has gathered a lot of money for burial and hospital expenses. Friends and supporters adore and care about the family.
In eighth grade, Lombardi was clever and popular at Nettingham Middle School. The Scotch Plains-Fanwood School District mourned Nico, a “beloved classmate and teammate.” Nettingham and Terrill Middle Schools canceled Back to School Nights to allow grieving students time. All schools provide grief counseling for students and staff.
Mayor Josh Losardo stressed the importance of kindness and teamwork during difficult times. He offered Nico’s family his condolences and asked that they be kept in their thoughts and prayers during their “unimaginable loss.”
Nico’s accident devastated his friends. It showed everyone in the community how fragile life is. Scotch Plains residents have showed their strength and unity by aiding the family during this difficult time.
