Veterans and seniors will benefit from a $23.4 million Passaic County housing project

Veterans and seniors in Passaic County, New Jersey, will benefit from a massive affordable housing initiative.

Project name: The Liberty at Pompton Lakes. The $23.4 million project aims to provide low- and moderate-income people with essential housing.

The four-story building at 519 Ringwood Avenue in Pompton Lakes should be finished by September 2026. Officials said veterans and elderly will be prioritized in the initiative since they have trouble finding safe, affordable housing.

Building cost and time

The Passaic County Board of County Commissioners awarded APS Contracting, Inc. a $19.6 million construction contract. The work should begin this fall.

The finished building will include 64 one-bedroom flats. Each will be inexpensive and provide decent living conditions.

This huge investment is part of the county’s larger commitment to meet New Jersey’s growing need for affordable housing, especially for veterans and seniors.

New community designs and features

Liberty at Pompton Lakes is being constructed for more than just residents. Developers have built community-focused facilities to improve inhabitants’ lives.

A common room in the complex for social events and activities will help residents get to know each other. Every level will include laundry rooms, and management offices will be available to deal with difficulties.

Green area will surround the property for outdoor recreation. This will provide a calm, accessible home.

Access and energy savings

The project’s main goals are longevity and accessibility. The building will have energy-saving features to help residents save money and live green.

Design elements allow those with mobility issues to live in flats without worry.

New Jersey wants environmentally friendly, open-door housing policies. These changes suit.

Workings and future

After the project, Christian Healthcare Center will manage the building and ensure its success.

If interested, you can apply in 2026, closer to the project’s end. Officials said the county’s website and local TV channels will publicize the application process to inform seniors, veterans, and other qualified applicants when it begins.

A New Jersey Affordable Housing Advance

One of Passaic County’s largest low-cost housing developments is Liberty at Pompton Lakes. The project helps veterans and the elderly, two of the state’s most vulnerable groups.

The building will contain modern, energy-efficient apartments and show that New Jersey is still committed to providing better homes for the needy.

Construction begins this fall.
