New ShopRite Set to Open in West Caldwell, Marking a New Chapter for Local Shoppers

After sixty years servicing West Caldwell, food shopping is about to change. Next Tuesday, ShopRite’s modern grocery shop at 900 Bloomfield Avenue will open. Sunrise ShopRite, which has been there for 58 years, will be replaced.
A 90,000-square-foot new store is next to the existing one on Passaic Avenue. Modern shopping is available, although the store remains family-owned since the 1940s. A parade from the old store to the new one will celebrate the grand opening. Ribbon-cutting follows the parade. Locals, lifelong customers, and ShopRite veterans are expected.
Before opening, ShopRite is hosting a neighborhood party in the new store’s parking lot on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. The opening will be more fun. Food trucks, live music, face painting, airbrush tattoos, and a Touch-a-Truck game for kids will be available. The store’s owners want to celebrate the family’s next step in West Caldwell and unite the community.
Sunrise ShopRite president Dara Sblendorio is the fourth Gladstein to lead the store. She feels the move shows gratitude and growth. Her family wanted to thank the community for its support over the years and make the store a wonderful place to shop.
The new ShopRite is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. The store will include more than food. The greatest Sunrise Kitchens have ready-made meals, a pizza shop, a sushi bar, an Asian cuisine stand, and a full hot buffet. Three wine, beer, and spirits lanes will be added to Sunrise Cellars. Customers will have several options.
Events and culinary classes can be held in the community area. There are full-service meat and seafood departments. This is another way ShopRite connects with its beneficiaries.
In 1940, Nathan Gladstein built Sunrise Market in Caldwell. Since then, his family has sold food. He sold the business to Wakefern Food Corp. in 1951, and his son Irving took charge. The company became ShopRite. Their family has grown and opened other North Jersey stores. Excellent customer service and community service are vital to them.
The West Caldwell store is modern and appreciative of its past. The business will exhibit family photos from its long history. The new design will reference the existing business on Passaic Avenue with its red pagoda-style roof and old-fashioned phone boxes.
People are excited about Bloomfield Avenue’s new beginning as the town says farewell to a generations-old icon. Residents see the shop opening as more than a business. A family tradition that has grown with the community for 80 years continues.
