Kentucky Lawmaker Revives JD Vance’s 2021 Epstein Post Amid Ongoing DOJ File Controversy

This week, Kentucky Representative Thomas Massie publicly revisited Vice President JD Vance’s 2021 Jeffrey Epstein case social media post, sparking a political debate. The Department of Justice’s release of federal information on late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein is under consideration.

On X, Kentucky Republican Massie responded to Vance’s Epstein comments. Massie replied briefly, “Yeah, why is that?” He added, “Some of us never forgot.” The remarks targeted Vance’s September 2021 speech during his Ohio Senate campaign.

Vance quoted an opinion column about Epstein and public distrust in 2021. Vance questioned why Epstein’s public profile had fallen, citing concerns about his ties to prominent people. He acknowledged Epstein’s 2019 death in federal detention, which caused controversy and conspiracy theories.

This post resurfaced amid political concerns about the Trump administration’s handling of Epstein papers. The Justice Department revealed Epstein-related federal case materials. However, politicians and political observers continue to argue those files’ scope and meaning.

Vice President Vance has not addressed Massie’s fresh remarks. He has also made little comments on the recently revealed federal documents. Vance told the Daily Mail in February about the open files. He said the records “reflect very poorly” on Bill Gates and Hillary Clinton. Vance didn’t demonstrate his claims.

Vance also addressed Trump’s Epstein ties in the same interview. He said Trump knew Epstein but was “very much outside of the social circle.” Vance stressed that Trump was not friendly with Epstein like others claimed.

Massie’s increased focus on Vance’s 2021 statements comes amid escalating tension between the Kentucky lawmaker and the Trump administration. Massie denounced the administration on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos,” saying Trump is still tied to the “Epstein class.” He also claimed the government was persecuting him for requesting more Epstein papers.

These interactions demonstrate how the Epstein case continues to haunt Washington politically. Multiple investigations and public demands for transparency followed Epstein’s 2019 arrest and death in a federal detention cell. The Department of Justice and FBI have been criticized for handling the case and records.

The Epstein case symbolizes unsolved issues and elite responsibility for many Americans. Both parties’ lawmakers have urged for Epstein’s network and associates’ records to be more transparent.

Massie and Vance’s dispute reflects a broader Republican rift. Both men are GOP members, but their public statements differ on the Epstein problem and the administration’s treatment of it.

Political discussion about transparency and accountability will certainly continue as the Department of Justice manages and reviews federal case materials. National politics revolve around whether more records will be revealed and how they may damage public trust.
